Our Faith Formation Goals are simple:

We aim to grow in love of God and ourselves,

and to spread that love to those around us.

We aim to have the young people find community

with each other and feel part of the parish family.

      FAITH FORMATION CLASSES -

Jesus Little Friends, Kindergarten and First grade classes are held during the 9:45 a.m. Sunday liturgy.

Second – High School classes are held 10:45 - 11:45 a.m. on Sundays.  All of these classes meet in upstairs in the Parish Center.

During the older children's class time, there will be a "Breakfast Program" for families waiting for their children or anyone who would like to participate. Coffee, juice and other refreshments will be provided.  There will be newspapers available.

SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMS

For all the sacraments below the young person should be involved in the liturgical life of the church and attend Mass regularly. He/She should be enrolled in either parish or Catholic school religious educations classes for at least one year before preparing to receive the sacrament

FIRST RECONCILIATION - (Confession) Children preparing for this sacrament are usually in the second grade or above. They also should have an elemental awareness of sin and Christ’s forgiveness though the sacrament of Penance.  Parents will be instructed by Sharon Secor and one of the parish ministers to prepare their child at home. The children will receive the sacrament on Saturday, January 21st  at 9:45 A.M. All other meeting and workshop dates will be announced.

FIRST COMMUNION - Children preparing for this sacrament are usually in the second grade or above. They should also be able to distinguish between ordinary bread and the Eucharist. Parents will be instructed by Sharon Secor and another parish minister to prepare their child at home. The first parent meeting will be Wednesday, February 2nd, in the parish office. First Communion will take place May 6th, at the 9:45 Mass. All other workshops, meetings and important dates will be given at the parent meeting.

CONFIRMATION - Candidates for confirmation must be ninth grade or above.
We have Confirmation, here at Cathedral, every other year. We do not have a class for direct preparation beginning this year. However, anyone wishing to receive the sacrament should be enrolled in a Religious Ed. program or attending a Catholic School for at least one year prior to the direct preparation process.  Marty Clark is the teacher and coordinator of this program.

Sacramental preparation is a very special time. Parents are requested to take an active role as prime educators of their children in their faith formation..
