Baptisms at the Cathedral

A Baptism in 2003

Time and Date:

Baptisms are held  on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the Month at 11:00 A.M.

Requirements:

At  least one of the parents should be a practicing Catholic and have the intention of raising the child to be a Catholic.  It is customary to have two Godparents, at least one of whom should be a practicing Catholic.

Baptismal Class:

If this is your first child, we hold  one 30 minute session at the Cathedral Rectory office a few weeks prior to the baptism.  If you are from out-of-state, a certificate is required stating that you attended a session in your home parish.

Additional Information:

Baptisms require approximately 20 minutes.  Photography is permitted throughout the ceremony.  Family photos may be taken in front of the altar following the ceremony.  We attempt to limit the number of babies to four each week.  There is no fee specified.  It is customary to make an offering to the church for the use of the facility.

 Appointments:

Please call Sister Maureen at 422-4177 ( Ext. 30) to make an appointment for your child's baptism.  She will set up a baptismal date and a time to meet with you regarding your child's baptism.
